Severe myopia referred to as pathologic myopia was the subject of a textbook authored and edited by Macula Foundation supporters. This disease of the retina and macula is a major cause of severe vision worldwide, particularly people of Asiatic background. It results in detachment of the retina, dry and wet forms of macular degeneration, macular holes, and even schisis.
